Director of the Institute of Future Energy from Universiti Technology Malaysia (UTM), Prof. Dr. Arshad Ahmad and his team visited our Faculty and ITU SENTEK Laboratories to develop possible collaborations on "Energy and Environmental Hydrogen Production". Prof. Arshad has been continuing his research with a team working to ensure energy sustainability for today and for the future within UTM since 1986.

Dr. Faiz MUHAFFEL, who completed his PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hüseyin ÇİMENOĞLU in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department and Dr. Gülay ÖZKAN,  who completed her PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Esra ÇAPANOĞLU GÜVEN in the Food Engineering Department were awarded “Best Thesis Award 2021” through the decision of ITU Graduate School.

Within the scope of the 249th Anniversary ITU Day, the 40th, 30th and 20th Anniversary Ceremony was held at our Faculty of Chemistry-Metallurgy on Sunday, June 26, 2022. We were honored to meet with our graduates of the year.

Our alumni who have completed 20, 30 and 40 years in Chemical Engineering came together on the 249^th ITU Day.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Gamze GÜMÜŞLÜ GÜR, our faculty member at the Chemical Engineering Department, will perform research at Carnegie Mellon University/USA within the scope of the 2219-International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program of TUBİTAK.

Visiting our Department with regard to Erasmus+ project, Vice Rector of the University of Food Technologies Plovdiv, Prof. Galin Ivanov and Faculty Member Dr. Hafize Fidan gave a seminar including the introduction of their University and the Department, and negotiations were held for possible collaborations.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Can Okutan, one of our faculty members, conducted a webinar on "The Role and Importance of Circular Economy in Combating Climate Change.

ITU Materials Days, organized by ITU Metalurgical and Materials Engineering Club, were held at ITU Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on 12-13 May 2022 with the theme of "Construction of a Sustainable Future with Materials Science".

ITU 2022 Academic Performance Awards Ceremony was held at 23 May 2022 at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.

Award-winning academicians were selected upon evaluation of their academic studies and publications. The awards were given in two different categories: "2016-2020 Department-Based Academic Performance Evaluation" and "2021 Publication Performance Evaluation".

Our students from Department of Food Engineering, Reyyan Aygün and Yağmur Çolak, won the first prize with their functional fermented product containing natural probiotics developed using whey in the Ak Gıda R&D Project Competition about functional fermented products, which was held for the second time in the category of Health & Wellness this year.

Dr. Yonca Alkan Goksu in Metalurgical and Materials Engineering Department has been awarded with Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholarship. Dr. Alkan Goksu will conduct state-of-art research on the synthesis of reactive oligomers/polymers that could be used in industrial polymer recycling within the scope of this program in United States of America. We congratulate our instructor and wish her continued success. 

On December 28, 2021, the boron workshop with the theme "Design the Future with Boron" was held for the first time in our country, with the support of YÖK and the contributions of TENMAK, at the Bor Campus, the new campus of Eti Maden. More than 200 universities and their institutes, research centers and technopark participated in this workshop.

Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between Eczacıbaşı Building Materials – Vitra Academy and ITU Faculty of Chemistry and Metallurgy, the seminar series for 3rd and 4th year  students in Metalurgical and Materials Engineering Department was launched on October 20, 2021.

In the context of seminar series, Vitra academy will inform our students on industrial topics such as production processes, quality assurance processes, supply chain management and sustainability.
